Top 10 Up And Coming Companies To Own For 2015

Two of the biggest shoe companies available to investors, Deckers Outdoor (NASDAQ: DECK  ) and Wolverine Worldwide (NYSE: WWW  ) , have experienced great growth in recent periods, with the former posting a 20% stock gain on the day it released earnings last week. Both companies have made fantastic accretive brand purchases and renovations over the past year, and both should continue to grow at appealing rates. Unfortunately for investors, both also appear to be fully valued stocks. The question for investors going forward regards whether the companies' phenomenal successes can sustain the lofty valuations imparted by an ever-myopic market.

Two pair
Deckers is up roughly 140% over the past 12 months. Wolverine is up just 40%. Deckers is the company behind brands such as Ugg, Teva, Sanuk, and more. Wolverine holds on to names such as Sperry Top-Sider and Saucony.

In their recent releases, Deckers remained the outperformer, with a more than $0.20 per share premium to the Street's earnings estimates. Still, Wolverine was no slouch with a 60% year-over-year gain in its most recent earnings.

If you follow Genesis Land (GDC), your head may be spinning by now. (To watch this battle in real-time, sign up for filing notifications for GDC here.) But surely, behind all the "Our directors are superior to yours" puffery, there are some differences in how each group would run the company differently.

Public companies leveraging their patent portfolios, (aka "patent plays"), are getting the market's attention. Companies such as Vringo (VRNG), ParkerVision (PRKR), MGT Capital (MGT), Worlds Inc. (WDDD.OB) and others have presented trading opportunities due to their volatility while retaining the chance for a big payoff to those investors who stay the course. Yet there exist viable patent plays that are still undiscovered. Some of these so called "plays," which are not getting enough attention, are actually real companies making and selling real products or services in contrast to pure patent monetization companies. Some known examples are Single Touch Interactive (SITO.OB) and Blue Calypso (BCYP.OB). This article is focused on another one of these patent plays, On Track Innovations Ltd. (OTIV).

Yesterday, small cap geothermal stock U.S. Geothermal Inc (NYSEMKT: HTM) produced a geyser of a return when it surged 26.79%, meaning its worth taking a closer look at the stock verses the performance of other geothermal stocks like small cap Ormat Technologies, Inc (NYSE: ORA) and mid cap Calpine Corporation (NYSE: CPN).First of all, I should mention there are some other geothermal stocks out there like Alterra Power Corp (CVE: AXY) and Ram Power Corp (TSE: RPG) who have their primary listing on Canadian exchanges with secondary ones on the OTCmeaning they may not be a good deal for American investors or easy to invest in. Second, U.S. Geothermal Inc itself is a good geothermal proxy as itsfocused on developing, owning, and operating clean, sustainable electric power from geothermal energy resources and itsoperating geothermal power projects at Neal Hot Springs, Oregon; San Emidio, Nevada; and Raft River, Idaho plus El Ceibillo, an advanced stage, geothermal prospect located within a 24,710 acre energy rights concession area near Guatemala City, the largest city in Central America.

Top 10 Canadian Stocks To Buy Right Now

Reuters has come out with a story, which, if true, would seem improbably. Apparently Cisco (NASDAQ: CSCO), Google (NASDAQ: GOOG), and Europe’s SAP have considered buying Blackberry (NASDAQ: BBRY). Alternatively, Blackberry could be smashed into pieces and sold off for junk.

Blackerry’s stock has not been able to hold the mark of $9, a bid made by Canadian finance firm Fairfax. There are two concerns about whether the bid can be completed. The first is that Fairfax will not be able to close a deal because if cannot raise the money. The other is that due diligence will prove that Blackberry’s future is more terrible that has already been imagined.

As a side show, several private equity firms which include Cerberus (the former owner of Chrysler) have asked for data from Blackberry.

It is nearly impossible to make the case that a company which is imploding as rapidly as Blackberry could have any value, even those its enterprise unit remains viable.

China is set to ease the one child policy, something that could benefit Chinese stocks in general but be especially beneficial to insurance stocks like China Life Insurance Company Ltd (NYSE: LFC) and CNinsure Inc (NASDAQ: CISG) plus health care stocks like Mindray Medical International Ltd(NYSE: MR) and Concord Medical Services Hldg Ltd (NYSE: CCM). First, let be clear that China is NOT abolishing the one child policy as the changes will merelyallow married couples to have two children if one spouse is an only child plus it will be up to China 34 province-level administrations to revisetheir laws and put the new policy into effect. Moreover, China family-planning bureaucracy employs more than 500,000 full-time workers and six million part-time workers all the way down to the village level tocollect billions of dollars in fines and these bureaucrats have fought for years against policy changesmeaning they could throw up roadblocks if not placated. With that said, the insurance and health care sectors are two sectors with publicly Chinese stocks that look set totake advantage of the coming changes.

    Wednesday

Housing Market Index-- The information found within this index is the monthly mother lode of the housing market data points. With both JPMorgan Chase (NYSE: JPM  ) and Wells Fargo (NYSE: WFC  ) reporting a drop in mortgage revenue during the first quarter, bank investors should be interested in this index for the data it can provide on current and pending home sales, the six-month outlook for home sales, and the flow of new potential buyers into the market. Since we've seen an uptick in some demand for refinancings, this data will give you a better sense of how much new (more profitable) mortgage business could be walking through the banks' doors. MBA purchase applications-- Last week we saw a rise in the purchase applications index of 7%, mostly driven by the continued rush to refinance while rates are at historical lows. With refinancings accounting for 75% of this index during the months of 2013, look for a declining trend that starts to favor mortgage business. That will be the turning point for both the banks and the housing recovery. Bank Reserve Settlement -- A bi-weekly checkup on the capital reserves of the nation's banks, the settlement can show investors who is struggling to catch up at the last minute. Since the capital plans for most of the big banks were approved and the Fed's stress tests showed most were overcapitalized, there's no real threat that any of the major players will be struggling to meet their requirements.

Below is the verbatim transcript of Roongta's interview with CNBC-TV18.

Q: How Reserve Bank of India's move will impact the small investors; a lot of them would have moved into debt mutual funds, fixed income funds in the past six months when the feeling was that it will give returns. What happens to them, should they move out, should they stay put?

A: We have seen some more measures being implemented last evening wherein the sole objective is to suck out the liquidity, which is there in the system. Once this liquidity is going to be out of the system the rates are going to move up.

We have already seen in the last few weeks that the 10-year benchmark yields have gone up by about 70-80 bps and it is at about 8.3 currently. The hike in the rate is having a negative impact on the debt funds. So, all those people who have currently been invested into debt funds are already experiencing negative return even from liquid fund and the situation doesn't seem to get better in the coming days. We had a view some time back that we take a wait and watch situation and will take a call if there is any development in the next couple of weeks.

Best Internet Stocks To Own For 2014

Facebook IPO is creating quite a stir recently. Valued at $100 billion, it would be the largest Internet IPO ever. On the surface, Facebook has much in common with another major Internet IPO of the decade, Google. They are both hugely popular and profitable internet companies who rely heavily on advertising for revenue, with grandiose, global-reaching goals: Google has said it aims to rovide a great service to the worldinstantly delivering relevant information on any topic.Facebook stated mission is to ake the world more open and connected. But there is a great disparity in their ability to create sustainable growth for shareholders. Google (GOOG) net revenue growth leading up to its IPO in August 2004 was astronomical. It jumped from $19 million in 2000 to $962 million in 2003. Earnings grew from a net loss of $15 million to a net gain of $106 million, in the same span of time. Facebook has grown at a similarly rapid rate, increasing revenue from $777 million in 2009 to $3.7 billion in 2011. Earnings grew from $229 million to $1 billion in the same span of time.

CYNK Technology (CYNK), the mysterious over-the-counter stock that at one point broke a $6 billion market cap, dropped roughly 80 percent in its first trades after a Securities and Exchange Commission halt. The SEC halted CYNK for two weeks following a massive rise in the stock's value -- it had been worth only a few cents per share in June, but it jumped above $21 on July 10. The Belize-based CYNK Technology supposedly operates a social networking site, but filings indicate it only has one employee and virtually no assets. Experts told CNBC the week of the SEC halt that they expected CYNK to fall precipitously after reopening, and its first day of trading is proving those predictions correct. When it was halted, the stock was worth just less than $14 per share, and is now below $3 a share after briefly hovering around $5 earlier Friday morning. An OTC Markets spokeswoman told Reuters that CYNK's shares were not trading on its platform, but were occurring over the phone. Earlier this week Reuters reported that OTC's CEO did not expect CYNK to trade on its platform at all after reopening, as no brokerages would file the required paperwork for the stock to trade on their exchanges. An SEC spokesman said that the organization cannot comment on the status of a company after a suspension period ends, citing an online explanation of the process. That document notes that broker-dealers may not solicit investors to trade the previously suspended OTC stock until they satisfy several regulatory requirements. The SEC warned, however, that "unsolicited" trading may occur after a reopening -- as CYNK is now seeing -- but "even though such trading is allowed, it can be very risky for investors without current and reliable information about the company."

10 Best International Stocks For 2014

Advisors typically seek to improve their clients’ financial well-being by increasing their wealth, but a less common approach that can potentially have as big an impact is to reduce their expenses.

In the college finance realm, for example, a few elite advisors are doing more than helping their clients fund 529 college savings accounts; they are also poring over financial aid differences among colleges that can cut tuition by $5,000 a year. That’s $20,000 over four years multiplied by the number of children the parent is supporting.

Now imagine saving your client not tens of thousands of dollars, but hundreds of thousands of dollars — not by choosing a lower-cost college but rather by helping them choose a more affordable country in which to retire.

That is now possible as the international retirement trend gathers steam, and indeed authors Suzan Haskins and Dan Prescher, in their newly released book "The International Living Guide to Retiring Overseas on a Budget," affirm it is possible to live quite comfortably on just $25,000 a year.

When you are trying to buy the market's best stocks, it's worth checking up on your companies' free cash flow once a quarter or so, to see whether it bears any relationship to the net income in the headlines. That's what we do with this series. Today, we're checking in on Dun & Bradstreet (NYSE: DNB  ) , whose recent revenue and earnings are plotted below.

  • [By Geoff Gannon] ly doesn need working capital even when it grows say 3% a year or so. And some companies always need a ton of working capital like Lakeland (LAKE) or ADDvantage (AEY). How you feel about how those companies use working capital has a lot to do with whether or not you like those stocks long-term.

Then there are companies that have increased working capital very, very fast over the last decade or so but theye also increased sales at a startling clip.

    That Carbo.

Let look at where the difference between EBITDA and operating cash flow is coming from.

Cash flow from others as shown on GuruFocus 10-year financials page for Carbo Il use this as a proxy for working capital changes was positive in only two years. And not by much. Usually, it been negative. Over the 10 years, that single line has added up to a negative $173 million. Wow.

Okay. Then there the difference between free cash flow and owner earnings. Owner earnings as youl remember is Warren Buffett calculation of what a business could pay out to owners in cash at the end of the year if it stopped growing. But didn shrink. More on that later. For now, let look at the difference between Carbo depreciation and Carbo spending on property, plant and equipment.

Over the last 10 years, cap-ex has been: $546 million (or $425 million if you allow cap-ex to provide cash flow in certain years, this is a weird issue I don want to touch right now)

And over the last 10 years, depreciation has been: $201.52 million

That a big gap. Wee got some combination of Carbo underreporting economic depreciation by anywhere from $225 million to $350 million or so or wee got Carbo investing something like $225 million to $350 million in growth.

    Which is it?

Let check the growth angle first.

Over the last 10 years, Carbo has grown total sales by just under 18% a year. Now, I happen to

  • [By Geoff Gannon] street costs $80.27 a share. So $100 will buy you 1.25 shares of Dun & Bradstreet. Dun & Bradstreet has $5.29 in earnings per share. So, 1.25 shares would deliver $6.61 a share in earnings. We can think of $6.61 a share in earnings as the amount of present earnings your $100 can buy you in Dun & Bradstreet stock.

Coach grew revenue per share 20% over the last five years. While Dun & Bradstreet grew revenue per share 9% a year over the last five years.

Let imagine just for the sake of argument what would happen if Dun & Bradstreet and Coach both grew their earnings for the next five years at the same pace they grew them over the last five years.

This is how much earnings my same $100 would buy in each stock:

    Coach (COH) Dun & Bradstreet (DNB) Today $4.39 $6.61 2012 $5.27 $7.20 2013 $6.32 $7.85 2014 $7.59 $8.56 2015 $9.11 $9.33 2016 $10.93 $10.17

In four years, my $100 investment in Coach would be earning nearly the same amount per year as my $100 investment in Dun & Bradstreet. And in five years, Coach earnings would pass Dun & Bradstreet earnings.

If Coach growth prospects still looked good in five years, the stock might have a P/E of 20. Meanwhile, Dun & Bradstreet growth might still be barely inching along. Actual sales growth at DNB is only around 3% a year. The per share growth is due to constant share buybacks. Check out Dun & Bradstreet 10-year financial summary for evidence of the mammoth stock buyback theye done over the last decade. Shares outstanding have declined almost 40%.

Anyway, if DNB organic sales growth was around 3% or so five years from now the stock could easily have a P/E of 12. So, you could certainly imagine a scenario five years from now where Coach price per share is $219 ($10.93 * 20) while Dun & Bradstreet stock price is only $122 ($10.17 * 12).

I can argue with that. It certainly possible. Personally, I not at all sure a P/
