Last Friday when yours truly suggested MeetMe Inc. (NYSEMKT:MEET) shares were taking flight and were a "buy", I didn't aim to imply it was going to be the next Facebook Inc. (NASDAQ:FB) or LinkedIn Corp. (NYSE:LNKD). It was just a short-term idea assuming the near-term technical clues would get traction. Today's action from MEET seals that deal.

  • [By Brian Stoffel]

Since its IPO, shares ofLinkedIn (NYSE: LNKD  ) have gone up 92%, and now trade hands for well over 100 times earnings. But that doesn't mean investors should be avoiding LinkedIn shares at all costs. In the video below, Motley Fool contributor Brian Stoffel tells you why he's considering adding shares to his real-life holdings.

  • [By Jeremy Bowman]

Finally, outside the Dow, LinkedIn (NYSE: LNKD  ) shares were off 10% after hours today as the company provided a disappointing outlook in its quarterly report. The professional social network said revenue in the current quarter would be 3.5%-5% below expectations, as mobile ad income is not growing as fast as hoped. Revenue in the previous quarter grew 72%, to $324.7 million, and adjusted EPS of $0.45 easily eclipsed estimates at $0.31.

Today, LinkedIn (LNKD) represents the former just about as well as a stock can. In early January I wrote up LinkedIn as one of the 10 stocks to own this year. Since that call, LinkedIn stock has gone from $115 to $209. I want to take a few minutes to reiterate the fundamental thesis here in a data driven way, and why I see LNKD at $300 this time next year, almost a 50% move from where it is now.

Advisors' Opinion:
  • [By Leo Sun]

Theaters are, naturally, opposed that plan. The two largest theater chains in the U.S. -- Regal Entertainment (NYSE: RGC  ) and Dalian Wanda's AMC Entertainment -- have announced that they won't show the film. IMAX has a contractual right to override theater-chain decisions for certain venues, but it waived that right in the Crouching Tiger negotiations, since it didn't want to force theaters to show the film.
