Top 10 Clean Energy Stocks To Watch Right Now

My brother is one of the lucky individuals beta-testing the new Google (NASDAQ: GOOG  ) product Google Glass. I think they look a little ridiculous (even if they are wicked cool to play with), but I have not been too concerned with prime light-hogging wearable computing. Instead, I have been watching the tech giant quietly increase its investment in renewable energy. I would even argue that some of the technologies coming out of Google X have larger potential than Glass for shareholders and consumers alike.

Google X takes to the skies ... literally
Big G has invested more than $1 billion in wind and solar projects globally since rolling out its ambitious clean energy agenda. The projects will generate over 2 gigawatts of electricity, or enough to power 500,000 homes. Notable investments include a $280 million check cut to SolarCityto assist in financing residential solar projects, and a 37.5% equity stake in the development of a 7,000 MW offshore wind farm in the Atlantic Ocean.

Alamy You can never know in advance all the news that will move the market in a given week, but some things you can see coming. From the world's largest consumer tech company posting its iEarnings to a pivotal end to the trading month, here are some of the things that will help shape the week that lies ahead on Wall Street. Monday -- Growing Apples: Lately, Apple (AAPL) hasn't been the growth stock darling that it was through most of the past decade, but it seems to be turning the corner. Apple is expected to post growth in revenue and earnings when it reports fiscal first quarter results on Monday afternoon. It's not likely to be much. Analysts see revenue and earnings per share climbing by no more than 5 percent over last year's holiday quarter. That may seem low given the success of the iPhone 5S and iPad Air that hit the market late last year. However, it's been hard to overcome the slide in Mac and iPod sales. Tuesday -- Comcast Stems the Bleeding: Another company showing renewed signs of life is Comcast (CMCSK). The country's largest cable provider hasn't had a problem growing its Internet and broadband phone services, but it's been struggling since 2007 to keep its pay TV customers around. Comcast finally surprised investors earlier this month by announcing that it closed out the fourth quarter with more subscribers than it had three months earlier. This is the first time that Comcast has posted a sequential increase in video customers after 26 quarters of declines. Comcast reports on Tuesday. Hopefully it will shed some light on this welcome development, letting us know if the cord cutter fears are in the past. Wednesday -- Are We Friends Again: It will be Facebook (FB) hoping that the market clicks "Like" on the leading social networking website's quarterly financials on Wednesday. Facebook had a rocky start as a public company two years ago, going public at $38 and falling into the teens several months later. However, explosive top- and bottom-l

Advisors' Opinion:

Much like the first three months of the year, the second quarter served up a mixture of good and bad economic news. On April 3, the Institute of Supply Management (ISM) announced its nonmanufacturing index fell to 54.4, a seven month low. Higher taxes and federal budget cuts were purported to blame for the slowdown. Two days later on the first Friday of the month, the Labor Department released disappointing March employment numbers: Employers added only 88,000 new jobs, fewer than any month in the past year (though the number was later revised up to 142,000). The unemployment rate dropped to 7.6%, but only because an estimated almost half million people left the workforce in March. On a more encouraging note, housing starts in March rose 7.0% to an annual rate of 1,036,000 (later revised to 1,005,000) and new home sales climbed 1.5% (revised to 1.3%) to 417,000 annualized (revised to 451,000), the second highest jump in three years. Despite the mixed signals, the U.S. equity market, as measured by the S&P 500 Index, rose a modest 1.9% in April.

Earnings per share came in at $0.35 while competitors DDR Corp. (DDR) and Kimco Realty Corporation (KIM) reported earnings per share of -$0.56 and $0.27, respectively. With a price to earnings ratio of 123.57, it is clear investors are expecting higher growth from this stock than its competitors, whose price to earnings ratio are twice as half. I think it will not take very long for the stock to appreciate in value at a much higher rate due to higher revenue, good investor and market sentiment towards the stock, and an improved real estate market.

When biotech-savvy investors think of immunology stocks, they tend to gravitate towards a name like Dendreon Corporation (NASDAQ:DNDN), which for all intents and purposes introduced the world's first cancer vaccine, Provenge, as a treatment for prostate cancer. Traders with a better-than-average knowledge of the immunology field may turn their attention to a company like CEL-SCI Corporation (NYSEMKT:CVM). CEL-SCI doesn't have a product on the market yet, but its head and neck cancer drug - which also uses immunology - is in Phase 3 testing right now, and looks very promising. There are other, and smaller, stocks within the world of immunology, however, that deserve a closer look from the market, and one of the most exciting ones further down the size scale is TNI Biotech Inc. (OTCMKTS:TNIB).

  • [By Bryan Murphy]

Look out AbbVie Inc. (NYSE:ABBV), and Gilead Sciences, Inc. (NASDAQ:GILD), you may want to look over your shoulder as well. There's a new immunology player coming to town, and its name is CEL-SCI Corporation (NYSEMKT:CVM). Yes, AbbVie may be the name behind blockbuster drug Humira - with nearly $10 billion in sales in 2012 - while Gilead Sciences is saving HIV patients' lives with immunological therapies Stribild and Complera. But, small cap company CEL-SCI may be closer to launching its own immunology drug sooner than most investors realize.

  • [By Holly LaFon]

Louis Vuitton (LVMH) is one of the world's leading manufacturers and retailers of luxury apparel. Nearly two years ago, we began to analyze the company. We liked the business model, particularly the growth potential as consumers in emerging markets grow more eager to demonstrate their af铿ence. We concluded that the company was well-run by a trustworthy management team, but its valuation did not seem very compelling. Louis Vuitton did not appear to be trading at what we felt was enough of a discount to its intrinsic value. Despite this, we did not abandon the idea. For the next 18 months we kept Louis Vuitton on what we call our inventory list. It was an investment we were comfortable making if the right price presented itself. In April, Louis Vuitton shares declined sharply after shareholders were disappointed by their latest earnings announcement, bringing the stock down to a valuation that we felt was attractive. We acted quickly to purchase shares.
